Orlando Attorney George F. Indest III, formerly the Head of the Health and Business Law Department of a major Central Florida law firm, announced that he had left his former firm to start a new law firm specializing in Health Care Law. The new firm, known as The Law Offices of George F. Indest III, P.A. - The Health Law Firm, will be located in Orlando, Florida at 37 North Orange Avenue, Suite 500, Orlando and will concentrate in the representation of physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners. Indest stated that he has plans to open a branch office in Pensacola, Florida, in the near future and was looking at other opportunities. Indest's legal practice includes business, corporate, transactional and professional licensing work as well as administrative and civil litigation on behalf of health care professionals and health facilities.
Indest is certified as a specialist in the area of Health Law by the Florida Bar's Board of Legal Specialization. In addition, he is also certified as a health care risk manager by the American Board of Risk Management. Indest, the former Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association's Medical-Legal Committee, is a member of the Executive Council of the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar and serves as the Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Health Law Section.
A frequent lecturer and speaker throughout Florida, Indest also teaches graduate health law courses and has published a number of works on health-related legal issues. Indest stated "Although my old firm gave me many excellent litigation opportunities, having my own firm where I can represent exclusively health care providers in all of their business activities will allowme to further concentrate my legal expertise in my chosen area of law. I can devote my full attention to serving the legal needs of the health care community and the physicians, nurses and others who make it up."
Indest also indicated that the change would provide him the ability to devote more time to his charitable and community service work and his teaching. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Kidney Foundation of Florida and is the Chair of the 2000 Transplant Games Florida Committee; this national athletic competition will be held in Florida for the first time ever this year. Additionally, Indest serves on the Board of Directors of Guardian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit nursing home.
Born in New Orleans, Mr Indest received his undergraduate and law degrees (J.D.) from Tulane University. He received his M.P.A. from University of West Florida and then went on to earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the National Law Center, George Washington University. He has been admitted to practice law in Florida, Louisiana and the District of Columbia. He has been a resident of Florida for the past twenty-five years.
