Seven Things To Know When You Receive A Notice Of Investigation From The Department Of Health

Employment, Discrimination, and EEOC Complaints

In Florida, discrimination complaints and other similar complaints against employers, even those filed with the federal Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC) are referred to the Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) for investigation and initial resolution. This is a requirement before suit can be filed in a court against the employer. There are many technical and procedural requirements before an employer or former employee is allowed to sue in court. An employer should only retain experienced counsel for such matters.

The Health Law Firm represents physicians, medical groups, nursing homes, assisted living facilities (ALF’s) and other health care providers in defense of such complaints and suits.

For a copy of a successful motion to dismiss we filed on behalf of a medical group we represented before the Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) based on a lack of jurisdiction in the case, click here.
