Mr. Indest’s Military Duties in the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore

Mr. Indest served overseas in the Pacific, and on aircraft carriers when he served with the U.S. Navy. He and his family lived in Japan where Mr. Indest acted as a liaison with Japanese legal authorities, attorneys, government officials and police authorities.

Mr. Indest’s military duties took him to the Republic of the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Iceland and Puerto Rico, among other places. Mr. Indest enjoyed warm relations with Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese and Thais, often being requested to visit in their homes and coordinating military functions.

Mr. Indest served as a Foreign Claims Officer under our Status of Forces Agreements (SOFAs), working with local authorities to investigate and pay for accidents and damages caused by the military.

He often hosted visitors on tours of his aircraft carrier while in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
