A briefcase containing old checks written from the agency to the vendor nearing 1.5 million dollars was discovered in August of 2015, when investigators showed up and conducted a search of his office.Veit pled guilty to fraud and theft charges which supported the theory the checks were being deposited into the bank accounts of family members and associates close to Veit instead of the intended vendor.
